TRADE DEADLINE MOVES

The MLB trade deadline has seen a number of California League players packaged in deals. Here’s a rundown of who has been sent where:

  • San Jose’s Keury Mella went to the Cincinnati Reds in the deal that saw the San Francisco Giants acquire Mike Leake. Mella was SF’s top organizational prospect.
  • The Houston Astros acquired Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers from the Brewers in exchange for a package that included Brett Phillips and Adrian Houser, who were recently promoted from Lancaster to AA. The other two players going to Milwaukee are all Lancaster alums: Domingo Santana (’12) and Josh Hader (’14)
  • The Dodgers were involved in a huge, three-team trade with the Marlins and Braves and Rancho Cucamonga’s Zack Bird, Jeff Brigham and Victor Araujo went to Miami.
  • The Astros kicked off the big moves by acquiring Scott Kazmir from the A’s for Lancaster’s Jacob Nottingham and Daniel Mengden, who both landed with Stockton.
